Chris has 30+ years experience as a basketball player, trainer and coach of girls & boys ages 6-18 in the tradition-rich DFW area. An amazing 93% of student-athletes under his leadership have gotten athletic scholarship offers. He and his wife, Dee, have three children -- all excellent students, citizens & basketball players.
How do you handle sibling rivalry?
What does it take to raise two competitive, good-natured boys who took their first trip to state in 2018? How did they develop their mental and physical skills and what role did parenting play in their success? Chris Jr. committed to Texas A&M University. Jordan has interest from several universities and is expected to sign in the Spring.
Is raising a girl baller different?
At 4, she could handle the ball better than most kids her age - boy OR girl. She's "played up" the past two club seasons, and now that she's grown 4 inches her skills and mental game have catapulted. But is basketball really her thing? Just an eighth grader, Journee is being touted as one of the best up and coming point guards in the country.
A family that prays and plays together...
Two strong-willed spouses raising three strong-willed children. How have Chris and Dee made it work? And how do they negotiate the challenges that come with youth athletics today? How do they balance competition schedules, how do they nurture being good teammates, and even make time for each other amid year-round sports participation?
Raising Ballers is a must-read for every parent who truly wants to inspire their kids to be championship level ballers...and people
Unbiased? Yeah right. The truth is I am very impressed with how Chris and Dee have raised their children. They are respectful, kind and yes, competitive. These are not qualities and traits that happen by accident.
That's why I asked my brother, Chris to let me grill him, and ask him the hard questions for his book, Raising Ballers. I'm sure many parents want to know: what IS the secret to raising athletes today?
Our family has been around sports for more than 40 years. We've won championships, gotten college scholarships, been inducted into Halls of Fames, won more than 3,000 games across all of our high school, college and pro careers -- and coached, trained & mentored youth for more than 30 years. We've seen it all. Yet we remain committed to helping kids do better and BE better in and outside of their sports. We have the same commitment to parents, which is why Raising Ballers was written. To support the parents out there who love their kids and want them to have opportunities for higher education, scholarships, college and pro careers, and success in their lives after sport.
